Eat to Get More Energy

You are eating well and trying to stay in shape, but you just don’t seem to have any energy! Here are some tips to keep you feeling ready to go no matter what time of day!

  • Don’t Diet! Just tell yourself, “Eat Healthy.” If you starve your body of carbs, you will have a low energy level. Eat several small and healthy “meals” a day rather than three huge meals with nothing in between.
  • About an hour before you exercise, eat a snack that includes both protein and carbs.
  • Water, water and more water. If you are dehydrated, you will have low energy levels and will begin to feel aches and pains. Drink water all day. If your urine is clear, you are getting plenty of water. If it is dark yellow, you are dehydrated.
  • Beauty sleep is a must. Get at least eight hours of good sleep a day.
  • Eat iron rich foods every day. Low iron will cause low energy.
  • Do everything you can to relieve stress in your life. Stress will raise your blood pressure and make you feel tired.
